Honey sensorial analysis, in January a training organized by C.I.Bi. – Premio BIOL PDF Print E-mail

C.I.Bi. – Premio BIOL, in collaboration with in “Associazione Amici delle Api” (Association Friends of the Bees, Bari, Italy) and with C.R.A. – Unit of Research in Apiculture and Silkworm Culture (Bologna, Italy), organize in Bari a beginners training for honey sensorial analysis. Meetings will be held from 20th to 23rd of January 2011.

The training has as objective to give participants information, competences and abilities to evaluate the main quality parameters of honey, carrying out, within groups guided by expert personnel, the identification of main defects and evaluating the correspondence to organoleptic standards as defined by related regulations. At the end of the training will be issued a declaration for each participant that will allow to enter following trainings and tasting sessions that will lead to the enrolment in the National List of Experts in honey sensorial analysis.

From Catania the results of the third BiolMiel edition

 

The International Jury has awarded the honey of  Apicoltura Cassian between 154 samples in competition. The three-day event aimed at apiculture and biodiversity, tasting and meetings is definetevely closed

 

It’s the organic acacia honey of “Apicoltura Cassian” of Treviso (Veneto) the best one of this year. This is the main outcome of the III edition of BiolMiel, the international prize for the best organic honeys that took place in Catania. The product from Veneto was proclaimed from the international jury that choose it among the 154 honeys (around 20% more then previous edition) coming from different areas of Italy, and also from Austria, Croatia, Cyprus, Germany, Greece, Spain, Turkey and United Arab Emirates. Among unifloral, second place for chestnut honey of the Apulian producer “Apipuglia”; third, ex aequo, jujube honey produced by the UAE company “Abu Dhabi Organics” and the sideritis one produced by the company from Abruzzi “Premiata Apicoltura La Girlanda”.

Among honeys of the hosting region, Sicily, best one - sixth place – the rosemary honey of the Trapani’s company “Isola Del Miele”. Best polifloral honey was proclaimed the one of Lombardy company “Apicoltura Zipoli”. So for three days Convitto Cutelli, in the historical center of Catania, hosted the international jury presided by Gian Luigi Marcazzan of CRA-Api of  Bologna, but also an international conference on apiculture and biodiversity, “Honey tasting laboratories”, and the meetings of Biol Prize committee.

Born as a chance of meeting between honey producers and technicians of the sector, to debate and to promote organic and sustainable agriculture and to promote organic quality products, BiolMiel - www.biolmiel.it - is promoted by Icea – Ethical and Environmental Certification Institute, in collaboration with CRA – Unit of research in apiculture and silkworm breeding of Bologn,  and C.I.BI. – Italian Consortium for Organic (organizer and owner of the Biol Prize trademark), with the patronage of The Italian Ministry of Agriculture, the Chamber of Commerce of Catania and AgriBioMediterraneo.

To all participants will be given a partecipation declaration, while to those that in the jury selection reached excellence will be also given the certification “Biol High Quality”.
